Phillip Luther’s Frontend Developer Experience Blog

About

My name is Phillip Luther. I'm a frontend developer. This is my blog. I write about frontend development and frontend developer experience. That's how I came up with the site's clever title!

About the Blog

If the pithy summary didn't do it for you, here's a longer, likely more helpful answer: this blog is about what it's like to build web applications. It's about all aspects of building web applications and goes beyond the technical bits and how-tos.

Assuredly, you'll get some technical bits and how-tos. You'll also get some why-shoulds, where-woulds, and what-ifs. Popular topics include developer experience, engineering culture, and the goods/ills of industry standards. The blog explores ethics in application engineering and sprinkles in a healthy dose of anecdotal frontend dev life, too.

As such, consider this fair warning that some things might get opinionated … if not outright finger-waggy. Despite the misleading name, Phillip Luther’s Frontend Developer Experience Blog is some dude's personal website and blog. It's editorial, not journalism.

Oh, and speaking of "some dude" …

I try very, very hard to look serious in my profile photos.

Beyond that, I oughtta tell you I've been in software development for 20+ years and specialize in frontend architecture and web app platforms. I've worked as both an IC and engineering manager across outfits big and small. I've navigated the rise and fall of myriad trends, patterns, and celebrity personalities in frontend tech … yet often still feel like a newb.

The frontend moves fast.

Dispassionate universe-willing, I look forward to seeing and learning a lot more.
